Turn your back on the cold winter months and visit the Weald of Kent Craft Show this April 30 – 2 May at the beautiful Penshurst Place, nr Tonbridge. This inspiring show will showcase some of the finest handmade crafts to spruce up your home and garden as well as delicious food and drink, live music, features, displays and a stunning show garden.
Over 250 crafts people from all over the UK will bring you the very best in handmade gifts and treats. With unusual wares you wouldn’t often find on the High Street, you’ll be able to pick up quirky items that will make real talking points. From ceramics to glass; jewellery to paintings the show offers something for everyone.
The Good Food Live area is a must-visit for foodies and will showcase some of the finest culinary delights in the Specialist Food & Drink Marquee. From cheeses, gourmet nuts, marmalades and handmade chutneys to curry sauces, fudge, chocolates you’ll be able to tickle your taste buds and stock up on goodies to take home.
Don’t miss the exciting Live Cookery Demonstration Theatre where you can get inspiration from the professionals who will whip up some mouth watering feasts. Match the perfect wine to your meal at the Tutored Wine Tasting. With a selection of wines from around the world, it’s your chance to pick up tips from the experts and leave ready to impress.
The Artists in Action area, sponsored by Leisure Painter and The Artist magazines, will bring you exciting pre-bookable half day workshops from some of your favourite professional artists. On Saturday, Susie Hodge will give you all the knowledge you need to paint vibrant flowers and portraits of your favourite pooch. Derek Daniell will be on hand on Sunday to teach you all you need to know about creating a beautiful big blue sky and painting people in acrylic. On Monday Tim Fisher will be perfecting the art of remote landscapes in mixed media. With all this and more you’ll be a Picasso in no time!
If you have always wanted to see a hawk, eagle or peregrine falcon in action make sure you visit the Birds of Prey Display where The Hawking Centre, based in Doddington, Kent will bring this thrilling experience to life! Two of the UK’s most famous falconers and televisions presenters Leigh and Jo Holmes will be bringing their favourite birds along to wow the audiences and give both young and old an unforgettable experience.
This year’s stunning Chilstone Show Garden has been expertly designed by local company How Green Nursery. Wander along the winding paths amongst a sumptuous selection of flowers and plants and discover the bubbling handmade stone water fountain. Featuring an impressive life-sized bronze peacock handmade by expert Seb Wylder from Lakeland Creations, it’s a fantastic sight.
With fun for all the family, make sure you take time out of your day to enjoy live music, face painting and a venture playground that children will love! What’s more, there will be numerous interactive family craft demonstrations, including some traditional rural craft techniques.
